With a vast majority of Arsenal players reporting to duty, besides those on international duty of course, there is one player who fans have been waiting to see. That is Nicolas Pepe, who spent the last season on loan and is due to arrive back in London.
However, according to Football London, he has not returned yet. This could be due to an injury, of course, since he has recently posted about recovery. His latest social media post shows him working out away from the rest of the squad.
Arsenal consider selling Nicolas Pepe OR terminating his contract
Football London understands that Arsenal would like to sell Pepe for a fee. After all he is one of their most expensive signings of all time. However, if they cannot find a suitable club for Pepe, then the termination of his contract is also considered by Mikel Arteta.
It does make sense. Under Arteta, there is no future for Pepe. The future within his position is sorted with Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson all at Arsenal for some time now. Therefore, there is no room in the squad for Pepe.
Unfortunately, some things aren’t meant to be. The right amount of research was not put into the player before he was signed in London. When he arrived for his big price tag, there was a lot of hype surrounding his name which he didn’t live up to.
Pepe is a great dribbler of the ball and one of the best in the world at taking on defenders. However, it is his end product which lacks. This lacking of end product is what makes him less desirable by Arteta since the sole premise of a winger should be to provide or score, which Pepe cannot seem to do.
Do you think Arsenal will be able to sell Nicolas Pepe this summer?
