Ahmed Ololade (born January 13, 1995) is a prominent Nigerian Afropop singer who is known popularly known by his stage name, Asake. He is a singer, songwriter and a stage performer who is loved by millions of Afrobeats fans for his vocal prowess and catchy song phrases.
He rose to stardom in the industry when he dropped the 2020 single, Lady. He became widely known after he was signed to YBNL Records, a record label owned by the legendary Nigerian rapper, Olamide. Another song that increased his presence was Sungba.
He released his debut EP, Ololade Asake, which turned out to be a commercial success internationally. He is one of the gifted stars who are making waves in the Street Pop and Afrofusion music industry.
Early Life & Education
Asake was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ololade on the 13th of January in the year 1995. Days after he was born into this sinful world, his parents organized a naming ceremony to celebrate the birth of this glorious child. He was given the name Ahmed Ololade.
He hails from the South West part of Nigeria and belongs to the Yoruba tribe. He was born and brought up Lagos with his family. He was born into a Muslim home and was presented with the same faith. While growing up, his father worked as an entrepreneur while his mother was a primary school teacher.
Asake started his journey into the artistic field as a dancer. As a young boy, he loved and developed interest in dancing and was a professional at it. He specialized in cultural dance, spending his free hours practicing all sorts of dances to improve his dancing skill. As a high school student, he danced at school ceremonies, thrilling his schoolmates and staff members with energetic cultural dances. It was through dancing that he got the nickname, Asake.
Although Asake loved dancing, he also had a deep love for music. He is gifted with a sweet voice, he often thrilled his close friends and classmates with originally composed songs and covers of popular songs.
He decided to invoked singing with his dancing because he wanted to be a distinct entertainer. On the side, he was also a good drummer and a member of his school’s music band.
The sensational singer was brought up in Lagos State, where he spent most of his childhood experience. Asake is in his 20s and still very much vibrant in the Nigerian music industry.
He studied Theater & Performing arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he had his degree.
Career
Asake started his music career at a very tender age, he was always seen releasing series of freestyles across all his social media platforms.
Asake started making music professionally in 2015. Having being inspired by the success of music stars like Olamide, Kizz Daniel, 9ice, Wizkid, and Davido. He joined the Afrobeats music space, focusing on Afrofusion songs. He joins Hip Hop, Amapiano, R&B, and Fuji sound to create music that would stand out from other artists.
He started as a backup singer for Broda Shaggi’s band, he performed at different shows and events across the country. He collaborated with Broda Shaggi to release the single “Star” in 2019. The song did pretty well in the market and helped more music fans to learn of his talent. After being encouraged by this little win, he released the single “Lady” in January 2020. The song went viral on social media because different influencers reposted the single on their pages and content creators and comedians used it as background music in their videos.
The success of “Lady” made the way for Asake to drop the hit song, “Mr Money” which became one of the trending singles of 2020. The song earned him his second nickname: Mr. Money.
In 2022, Asake went further to drop the single “Omo Ope“. The song went viral on the internet. And this time around, it got to the ears of the Nigerian rapper and music executive, Olamide. The YBNL frontliner fell in love with the song and decided to record his verse to the single. Few weeks after, Olamide invited Asake for a meeting and offered to sign him to the YBNL record label. Asake didn’t think twice as he took the offer and joined the YBNL family. He was announced YBNL‘s latest signee on the 8th of February 2022.
Thereafter, Asake released his studio project EP, Ololade Asake. The studio work consists of four solid hit tracks – Omo Ope, Sungba, Trabaye, and Baba God. He performed Baba God at a live session organized by Glitch Africa in February 2022.
He also teamed up with the Grammy Award winner ans African giant, Burna Boy to record the remix of Sungba. The song was released on the 28th of March 2022 and was topping music charts for several weeks.
He appeared as a featured artist on DJ Spinall track tagged “Palazzo“. The song was released on the 13th of May 2022. The official video of the single were shot and directed by the Nigerian sensational videographer, TG Omori.
On the 16th of June 2022, he dropped another chart topping smash single, “Peace Be Unto You” (PBUY). The song received good reviews from listeners and has gotten thousands of streams from fans.

Personal Life
Asake who was living in a very local area in Lagos now resides in his own well-furnished apartment building in Lekki, Lagos, and has exotic rides to his name. Whenever he is less busy and on leisure, Asake seizes the opportunity playing tennis, football, and snooker games. He also spends a good part of his day listening to songs by other artists in order to get more inspiration.
The singer is currently single, and the details of his romantic life are not made known to the public. He loves being happy always, which helps him create good music. He also likes to travel to new places and connect with new people.
Asake is still very much single, he has no wife or girlfriend nor spouse.
