AS Monaco shows interest in signing Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy as Alexander Nubel’s replacement

According to reports, AS Monaco is interested in signing Edouard Mendy, the goalkeeper who currently doesn’t get much playing time at Chelsea.

They are considering him as a replacement for their current goalkeeper, Alexander Nubel, who is expected to leave the club.

Mendy, who is from Senegal, has fallen down the ranks at Chelsea and may want to move to a different team in the upcoming transfer window.

The goalkeeper situation at Monaco is uncertain because Nubel will likely return to his parent club, Bayern Munich, after being on loan for two years.

They also have another goalkeeper, Thomas Didillon, on loan from Cercle Brugge, but it’s unclear if he will stay. That’s why Monaco is looking at other options and has included Mendy on their list.

Mendy joined Chelsea in September 2020 from Rennes for around £22 million. He had a great first year, helping Chelsea win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. He also won the African Cup of Nations with Senegal in 2021.

His excellent performances earned him The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award that same year, establishing him as one of the best goalkeepers in the game.

However, due to changes in managers and unfortunate injuries, he hasn’t been given as many opportunities to play at Chelsea.

If Monaco offers Edouard Mendy a good opportunity, it won’t be surprising if he decides to accept it and try to revive his promising career.
