Chelsea Youngsters Madueke and Colwill Reach Under-21 Euro Semi-Finals with 1-0 Win over Portugal.
Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill, the talented duo from Chelsea, helped England secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Under-21 European Championships.
They achieved a fantastic 1-0 victory against Portugal in Kutaisi, Georgia. England has been outstanding in the tournament, not conceding any goals so far. Colwill has started in three matches and shown his defensive skills.
England performed impressively in the group stage, winning all three games 2-0, which included eliminating the defending champions, Germany. Portugal, however, won only one of their three group matches but managed to qualify second behind the hosts, Georgia.
The deciding moment came in the first half when Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon, both playing in the Premier League, combined well. Gordon calmly finished a pass from Nottingham Forest’s player, securing England’s lead.
Madueke played on the right side, while Colwill played as a left-sided center-back.
Madueke was substituted after 74 minutes when Portugal started to put pressure on England. Chelsea’s new signing, Diego Moreira, joined Portugal’s team late in the game.
Portugal had 16 shots compared to England’s six, but luck was not on their side, and they are now out of the tournament.
