Tunde Onakoya sets new chess marathon record in New York, raising $50k+.

Tunde Onakoya, Nigerian chess pioneer in African slums, remains undefeated as he tirelessly aims to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon in Times Square, New York.

Tunde Onakoya, who began the chess marathon on Wednesday April 17, is determined to complete a 58 hour game, a quest to make a difference in the lives of millions of children across the world.
As of this evening, the 29-year-old philantropist has already crossed 48-hours mark, playing over 100 games unbeaten with New York’s finest chess master, Shawn Martinez and some few chess players.

In a bid to claim the Guinness World Record, Onakoya aims to raise $1 million for the education of children with the gift of Chess.
In recent update shared via his organization’s official social media page, $59,068 (N63,645,770) has been donated for the good course by Nigerians and other kindhearted people across the world.

Fans and well wishers at home and abroad solidly continue to support the chess master while looking forward to seeing him bring home the Guinness World Record title.
Nigerian dignitaries, celebrities like Adekunle Gold, Davido, Chioma Rowland, Asa Asika, Sowore amongst others have also turned up for Tunde to show their supports.

The chess marathon is scheduled to end today, Friday, April 19. The runs was recently moved to the other side of Times Square, between 47th and 48th Street, near Olive Garden.
A Gift of Chess, a non-profit organization based in New York, disclosed that Tunde Onakoya exhibited resilience during his ongoing marathon despite experiencing ‘intense vomiting and stomach pain.’
