During a recent interview, Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke professionally known as Davido reveals how his colleague, Wizkid inspired him to be an artiste.
Davido in the interview, said while he was living in the United States of America (U. S. A) seeing upcoming artiste like Wizkid trying to break prominence in the Nigerian music industry pushed him to become a singer.
He said that as at that time, the biggest artistes were Psquare, D’banj, 2Baba then then the emergence of Wizkid makes him have interest into the Nigeria music industry.
In his words; “I remember being in the club then like the biggest artistes were like Psquare, D’banj, even then Wizkid was like young, really young because I remember like he was just coming up in the game, so the game was coming up.
And I remember that moment I was like I want to do Nigerian music I want to get on this early, like I can really tall like is going to be big.”
Clearly, despite the industrial rivalry between Wizkid and Davido over the years, the two artistes are one of the biggest things to happen to the Afrobeats as they have taken the music genre to a global level thereby putting the country’s name on the world map.
